|
Introduction |
Global
Education Network (GEN) and IBM
are working closely through a very structured plan
to provide an Open Standard and Open Source
based Campus Management System (CMS)
application. GEN-CMS with
the scope of this project means providing online
access to student data across the institution
and on the Internet, thereby helping to manage
resources effectively and provide information
both statutory and college related at the fingertips.
The student data with reference to project
means the complete academic data that is present
in the college, which includes but not limited
to scheme information, class information, faculty
schedules, timetables, student’s attendance,
performance in internals, up-to-date report
on past performance, alumni information, placement
information, etc.

Application
Architecture |
CMS was designed as three-tier architecture
to clearly separate business logic
from the presentation interface and
the application data. This makes the
application highly customizable and
secured at all levels, so the customer
can choose only the modules and build
application that suits his budget.
The application is built on the lines
of a portal; hence the same data is
available both on the Intranet and
Internet.
